Falling Stars

Published by sal2683 at 12:28 am under hockey Edit This

It appears the season will soon be over for the Dallas Stars.

Even without star player Johan “Mule” Franzen, the Detroit Red Wings prevailed in Game 2 to win 2-1 and take a 2-0 series lead.

Being down two games is something the Stars haven’t faced all postseason, so it might be interesting to see how, or if, they respond.

The game got ugly towards the end, when the Detroit goalkeeper stuck his stick out to hit Dallas’ Mike Ribeiro, and Ribeiro responded by slashing the goalkeeper with his stick.

Curiously enough, Ribeiro was the only one who was called for a penalty, and might face further punishment if the NHL decides to suspend him.

Regardless of whether he will play in Game 3 or not, I don’t see the Stars pulling out a miracle and coming back to win the series.

I only hope they can at least prevent a shutout and make it a somewhat decent matchup.

On the other side, Pittsburgh has a 1-0 lead and will more than likely cruise to sweep that series as well.

It looks like we’ll have a Detroit-Pittsburgh Stanley Cup championship game in less than two weeks…

It sure looks like Detroit will easily close out the Stars’ season!
