Is it just me or have sports fans gotten meaner and more out of control in recent times?

The last few games that I’ve been to, I’ve heard things yelled that made me cringe, both for myself and for the fact that the youth around me had to hear those things to.

What really irks me the most is the ignorant, obnoxious fan.

I’m sure you’ve all come into contact with at least one person like this.

It’s the guy (or girl) who yells throughout the entire event, and most of the things that come out of his (or her) mouth don’t make sense.

My theory is if you don’t know what you’re talking about, just don’t talk.

Apparently these people didn’t get the memo.

They’re the fans that yell when a ball is called on a player from the opposing team and insist that the umpire needs glasses when, in fact, it was clearly a ball the first time it was thrown, the first time on the replay on the jumbo screen in centerfield, and the time they showed a close-up on the television screen.

But, say, if the same pitch is thrown on a member of his (or her) favorite team and called as a ball, the fan has nothing to say.

We all get a little worked up over our favorite teams, myself included. At the same time, however, I try to be fair.

On that note, I also limit my opinions voiced out loud when I’m in public.

Other people around you are there to enjoy the game and they don’t need their own personal comentator live in the stands to help them.
