This Week in Review
For the sports world this week, the ride has been that similar to the highs and lows found on a roller coaster.
First you had Tiger, who won the U.S. Open only to compromise the rest of his season by blowing out his knee. Another surgery will have him out the rest of the year, which is sure to show a decrease in numbers of who will be watching the tournament. Let’s face it. Modern golf is not modern golf without the face of Tiger.
Then you have the NBA finals which, for Laker fans, was a low but for Boston maniacs was an incredible high.
The Celtics claimed their 17th title on the 17th by completely annihilating the Lakers in an almost 40-point victory.
Those fortunate enough to get to watch the celebration after the game had a chance to view Kevin Garnett and the rest of his teammates reveal the raw emotions they were feeling as Kobe and Lamar walked by to the lockerrooms.
Don’t worry guys, you’ll have another shot. And maybe another, and maybe another…
Add in the firings of several MLB managers, including the Mets’ Willie Randolph, as well as the Cinderella teams of Fresno State and Georgia in the NCAA World Series, and that pretty much caps off the ups and downs of this week.
