All-Star players picked
All-Star week is quickly approaching and it appears that the ballots have already been tallied and the results of the American League roster complete.
No big surprise here — New York’s Alex Rodriguez and Boston’s Manny Ramirez will head the AL, along with notable players like Derek Jeter.
A slight surprise was the difference in the number of votes between Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki, who has been extremely popular in years past, and other players in his position, such as Vladimir Guerrero and Bobby Abreu.
The lone selection from the Rangers was hustle player Josh Hamilton, while the rest of the team included Cliff Lee, Dustin Predrioa and Kevin Youkilis.
For the National League, Lance Berkman, Brandon Webb, Chase Utley, Chipper Jones, Hanley Ramirez, Ken Griffey, Jr., Kosuke Fukudome, Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto as the starting catcher.
Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be in charge of the American League while Colorado’s Clint Hurtle will manage the National League. Each manager is responsible for choosing his pitching staff and reserves.
